Overview

Low Melt / Bi-Component Fibres

Bi-Component/Low Melt fibres both Virgin and Recycled are used in the process of ‘Thermo Bonding’ as a binding agent, made up of two components, the sheath (Thermo – Bonding Component Polyester) and the core (Regular Staple Polyester Fibre), usually blended with other fibres to produce a variety of products including polyester wadding, Foam Replacement products and insulation.

Applications

Low Melt / Bi-Component Fibres

Low Melt / Bi-Component Fibre is a type of polyester fibre specifically engineered to have a lower melting point than standard polyester fibres. This property makes it very useful in wadding production, where it serves as a binding fibre that helps to hold the wadding layers together without the need for additional adhesives or sewing.

Polyester is widely used in upholstery for its durability, resistance to fading, and ease of cleaning, making it ideal for frequently used furniture. It withstands stretching, shrinking and maintaining its look over time. Often blended with other fibres, polyester can mimic natural fabrics while offering enhanced strength. Available in diverse colours, patterns, and textures, polyester upholstery provides budget-friendly, resilient, and stylish options for any space.

Polyester is popular in bedding for its durability, softness, and low-maintenance qualities. Used in sheets, pillow fillings, and comforters, it resists wrinkles and fading, while our polyester fillings provides lightweight warmth, breathable and long-lasting bedding that’s easy to clean and ideal for allergy-friendly options.

Low Melt / Bi-Component Fibre is used in flooring as a binder fibre in carpet backing, creating durable, stable support without extra adhesives. When heated, Low Melt bonds fibres together, enhancing carpet strength and flexibility to withstand foot traffic.

Low Melt / Bi-Component Fibre is used in the automotive market to add durability and structure to interiors like seat padding, headliners, and door panels. When heated, Low melt bonds fibres together, creating lightweight, resilient components that enhance comfort and insulation.

A mission to create sustainable products that make a difference to our planet.

Frequently asked questions about Fibres.

Still need help?

Recycled polyester is made from repurposed materials like plastic bottles, while virgin polyester is produced from petroleum-based raw materials. Recycled polyester has a lower environmental impact, reducing plastic waste and energy consumption. In contrast, virgin polyester requires more resources and has a higher carbon footprint.
